Pre-Approve Yourself
Although the banks might be willing to loan you lots of money, that doesn't mean that you should take them up on it. Only you can determine how much you are comfortable spending. I recommend either closely analyzing your finances or speaking with a financial advisor who can help you do so. Chart out your monthly expenses, such as car payments, credit card payments, student loan payments, cell phone bills, utilities, etc... and come up with a budget that you are comfortable with, and not just a budget that the bank is comfortable with.
